Check the concert dates ↗Quick answer
The House of Strauss is at Döblinger Hauptstraße 76, in Vienna's 19th district. Its own approach page lists the Spittelau U-Bahn station and two tram stops on Döblinger Hauptstraße, and warns that parking nearby is limited. Doors open 90 minutes before the concert, so plan to arrive early. The museum is open then, and the tram stops are a short walk from the door.
The address
The venue is at Döblinger Hauptstraße 76, 1190 Vienna. The meeting point on the booking page is that same address. Wikipedia describes Döbling as the 19th district, in the north of the city, bordering the Vienna Woods. The House of Strauss's approach page calls the building the Gartenpalais Zögernitz, and says it is located in the 19th district with excellent public transport connections.
By U-Bahn
The approach page lists Spittelau station on the U-Bahn as one route and gives a walk of some minutes from it. That is the longer of the two public-transport options it offers, so it suits travellers who like to walk or whose hotel is on a U-Bahn line. Wikipedia notes that the district is served by the U-Bahn at Heiligenstadt, and by trams and buses. A map app will give the route on the day.
By tram
The approach page lists two tram stops, Pokornygasse and Rampengasse, and gives the walk from them as short. Wikipedia adds that Döbling has had horse-drawn trams since 1869 and electric ones since the early twentieth century, and the House of Strauss's own history page says a horse-tram terminus stood on the site of the dining garden from 1870 to 1903. The building has stood at the end of a tram line for a long time.
By car and taxi
The approach page says the Gartenpalais Zögernitz has parking nearby, but that spaces are limited. A reviewer on the booking page says it was easy to get there and back using transit and that street parking was available. For a taxi, a map app gives the time from your hotel; the booking page gives no transfer time. Allow longer for the return if the weather is poor or if the concert ends at a busy hour for taxis.
Arriving early
The booking page says doors open 90 minutes before the concert and that guests should arrive early. The museum is open before and after the concert, so the time is useful and not wasted. The House of Strauss's museum page describes an audiovisual exhibition with interactive stations, and the sparkling wine is served at a reception. Your confirmation lists the start for the day you chose, and that is the time to plan from.
Access
Wheelchair access is listed on the booking page. The House of Strauss's approach page says the team will support a barrier-free arrival and asks guests to contact them for details. A step-free route from the tram or the U-Bahn is worth asking the team about before the day, along with which seats suit your needs. Reserved seating means you will not need to queue for a place, so you can arrive at your own pace.
The way back
A reviewer on the booking page says it was easy to get there and back using public transport. The approach page mentions the Vienna City Card, which it says allows unlimited use of the U-Bahn, trams and buses from the moment you arrive at a station, with discounts on sights. Plan your return before you leave the hotel. The tram stops are close to the door, which helps if you are tired after an evening.
What is nearby
Döbling is known for its wine villages. Wikipedia lists Grinzing, Sievering and Neustift am Walde among the places with Heurigen taverns, and says the district borders the Vienna Woods. A Heuriger serves its own wine under a special licence in alternating months, so check before you plan a meal. Wikipedia also lists Beethoven's Döbling addresses, one of them on Döblinger Hauptstraße itself, where he composed substantial parts of the Eroica Symphony. These are places to see from the street, not tickets to book.
